Rappahannock Game Warden Jim Bankston released final tallies for the county’s big game harvest last week. “Actually, the deer kill should be a bit higher,” he quipped. “We had one eight-point buck which was shot 12 times.”
He was referring to an “Abscamstyle” sting operation mounted by wardens from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The twist was, instead of fake Arab sheiks, the bait was a stuffed whitetail with a rack which no self-respecting roadhunter could resist.
