pies the next eight weeks. It is equivalent to boot camp. There are academic studies along with the physical training. The Academy enforces a type of military discipline and training similar to the “rat year” atVMI.
First year enrollment averages 1,200 to 1,500 cadets.
During the first two years a cadet has the opportunity to resign without any service obligation. If the third year is started a cadet will have a service obligation under enlisted status. If the entire four-year training regimen is successfully completed, the cadet incurs a five-year service obligation.
Upon completion of flight or navigation training a seven-year obligation is required. The Air Force rank upon graduation from the Academy is second lieutenant.
Jonathan’s major will depend partly upon the needs of the Air Force. He intends to take more advanced placemen courses this year
