across 2V-> miles with National Fences for a $10,000 purse. Following that an open brush race will be run at 2'/± miles. The purse, to be sponsored by First American Bank, should be a big one and promises to draw a fine field.

The fifth race is the historic Virginia Gold Cup. A tough timber test, it will be run over 4 miles of countryside, with heavy timber fences including the famous water jump. The prize at the end, though, pays for the miles with a purse of $30,000.

Next the William Rochester Memorial will be contested by maidens. This 2-mile, claiming brush race offers an $8,000 purse. The final race will be the Virginia Thoroughbred Association Plate, a 2-mile flat race offering a $1,000 purse.
