If you make so much m a year that your benefits are reduced to zero, then you’ll earn the right to higher retirement benefits when you finally do stop working.

By the way, the limit on the amount you can earn before your benefits are reduced applies only to people under 70. When you turn 70, your wages have no effect on your Social Security checks and you will get full retirement benefits, no matter how much you earn.

Did you know that Social Security can also help provide for your dependent parents age 62 or older in the event of your death? There are benefits as well for unmarried children under 18 or workers who die, retire or become disabled.

And if you are divorced but were married for ten years or more to a person who was insured under Social Security, at age 62 you will be eligible for Social Security benefits. You would be eligible at age 60 if your exspouse has died.
