William W. Oliver IV, of Woodville, was named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for the fall quarter.
Bill, who is a freshman majoring in animal science, maintained a straight “A” average to finish the quarter with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.
Bill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Oliver III of Woodville.
Wakefield tied
for 1st in contest
After having completed three of the six tests of the Virginia Math League 1966-87 contest, Wakefield School in Huntly is tied for first place with Woodberry Forest School and Courtland High School of Spotsylvania County in Region 12.
Region 12 includes schools, both public and private, in Rappahannock, Madison, Spotsylvania and Fluvanna counties, as well as thef city of Fredericksburg.
Wakefield math team members include seniors Sean Bennett, Stephen Butler, Hank Sohn, and a student from Japan, Takashi Takenoshita.
