conference set

A conference on alternative crops and alternative farm management systems will be held Monday, Feb. 23, at the Sheraton Conference Center in Fredericksburg.

With a theme of “Sustainable Agriculture tor Virginia’s Future,” the conference will appeal to both conventional and organic farmers who are looking to improve profits with research-based information.

Among the features of the conference will be panels composed of farmers who are organically producing beef, grain, herbs, mushrooms and vegetables. They will discuss the management and marketing aspects of their operations.

Conference registration will begin at 8 a.m. Following a brief welcome, Robert H. Miller of North Carolina State University will deliver the keynote address. Mr. Miller serves as head of N.C. State’s department of soil science and is -
