The first place winner will receive |200 and the opportunity to compete in the National Beef Cookoff in Sun Valley, Idaho, Sept. 20-22. Hie second and third place winner will receive $100 and $50 respectively. Two honorable mentions have been added to the 1987 contest prises and each will receive $25.
Here's how to enter:
• Recipe must be typed or legibly written on 8 Vi x 11 inch paper. Include name, address, phone number and a brief statement about the origin of the recipe.
• Recipe must contain a minimum of one pound and not fflbre than £ve pounds of beef; Each serving must'*’ . contain at0 Ib&fct three ounces of ' t cooked chuftc, round, fr^sh brisket, * plate, shank or ground beef.
• Total preparation and cooking time cannot exceed four hours. This does not include preliminary preparation time such as marinating.
• The recipe must be specific, with no use of brand names, and must state the number of servings and approximate preparation time.
To be eligible:
• Contestants must live in Virginia and be 18 years old or older with a non-professional food status.
• Any person who has owned one or more head of beef or dairy cattle (or who lives in a household where any person has owned cattle) in the 12 months preceding Oct. 1,1987, is ineligible.
