Piedmont Fox Hounds
Qft Saturday, March 28, the Piedmont Fox Hounds will host their 46th annual point-to-point meet, with eight races and a hunter pace event on the card.
The team races will kick off the day at 11 a.m. Adults only will compete on this course aboard mounts that have fairly and regularly hunted.
The first race, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. will be for novice riders. The newcomers, who must be at least 16, will race three-quarters of a mile on the turf. The second race is also a flat race where last season’s nonwinners can compete for a trophy over a three-quarter-mile course.
Then owner-riders will challenge a set of National Hurdles spread across a lVa-mile course. The fourth event is an open hurdle race with a trophy for owner and riders, followed by a maiden hurdle for nonjump winners.
Then the owner-riders come back for a timber contest. Three miles will be contested on horses which have been regularly and fairly hunted.
The ladies compete in the seventh race —3 miles over timber with a piece of plate awarded the owner and rider by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon.
