The Bland music scholarship contest will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in the music room of the Rappahannock County Elementary School. So for seven contestants, vocalists and instrumentalists, will participate, with the winner to go on to the regional contest in Warrenton on March 15. A varied program of pianists, trumpet, flute and singers will be featured. Everyone is invited.
Beginners horse school set
A beginners horse school will be held Feb. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Front Royal Youth Cehwr on Commerce Avenue. For additional information, call the Extension office at 675-3619.
‘The Boy Who Could Fly’
The movie The Boy Who Could Fly will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 21, and Sunday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. The movie stars Fred Gwynne, Jay Underwood, Bonnie Bedelia and Louise Fletcher, and is directed and written by Nick Castle (The Last Starfighter). This is a sophisticated magical fantasy for sensitive adults as well as for young people about an autistic boy following the loss of his father. Man’s universal dream of flying - about life’s pain and confusion — is at the heart of this delightful fantasy adventure. It is a warm, imaginative tale that will capture your heart. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Fashion show planned
The annual fashion show sponsored by the Rappahannock Woman’s Club will be held Sunday, April 5, at 2 p.m. Fashions are by Franks and Warren Quality of Front Royal, Jack & Jill of Culpeper, The Second Look and The Peppermint Stick of Madison.
This year’s show, “Bon Voyage” will be held at the Rappahannock County Elementary School and proceeds will go toward the Woman’s Club scholarship and Rappahannock Area Little League Baseball safety equipment. Advance tickets or patron ads may be purchased from any member.
