If amateur race enthusiasts and other fans of point-to-point racing are pleased with each year’s offerings, they can thank the Virginia Point-to-Point Advisory Council.
As its name implies, the council is advisory rather than legislative, according to James L. Young, Orange County Hunt’s Joint MFH and chairman of the council’s steering committee.
The council serves as a channel through which “constructive ideas” can flow to assure the fun and excite-ment long associated with Virginia point-to-point racing.
“(It’s) really an informal group of racing enthusiasts trying to bring some sort of uniformity to the racing circuit in Virginia. It’s a forum to air our mutual problems,” Mr. Young explained.
