for season
Game Warden Jim Bankston released figures for big game taken in Rappahannock County during the 1986-87 hunting season. “The deer kill was an alltime high, 1,347 checked compared with about 1,100 last year.”
He noted that fewer hunters were out this year, but that they took more deer than ever before. The previous high for a season’s harvest in the county was 1,308. Hunters took 858 bucks, 484 doe and five deer were of undetermined sex.
