One of the things our government seems to have forgotten is that it could try to promote peace rather than war. It has been so long now since we did any work for peace that we seem to see international relations and international influence entirely from the point of yiew of armaments, and weapons sales and gifts - hence Secretary Shultz’s efforts to convince us that the Contras are defending us. This twisted attitude needs attention. I challenge anyone to go to the Middle East where the Camp David Peace Accords were to help settle things to see what a peace plan based on massive infusions of weapons into an area has wrought for the people there.
