The Piedmont District’s roughly 1,000 registered voters have until Nov. 7 to decide who they will choose to represent them on the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors. But the picture may be clearer in many voters’ minds after the three candidates discussed their platforms during a forum Tuesday evening.
The three hopefuls for the position, Kim Estes-Baader, Dr. Monira Rifaat and Eddie Wayland, had opportunities to introduce themselves, explain their core values and weigh in on hot-button topics in the county and their district.
The event, which was sponsored by the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, attracted a crowd of some 135 people to Rappahannock County High School’s auditorium.
“We have to be able to manage change. Things are changing and changing fast,” said Rifaat, a retired pathologist who has operated Manor Farm near Sperryville since 1980. “For the first time we are within commuting distance of large employers, such as those in Culpeper.”
