The psalmist David knew of the value of the shepherd. The life of the shepherd belonged to bis sheep. If they wandered off Mindly, his eyes were always open. If they lost their footing he rescued them with the crook of his staff, lie cared for the sheep and the lambs. Oue way or the other, he saw to it that his flock was safe. The shepherd knew they depended upon his knowledge and skill.
Truly, the Lord Is our Shepherd, for He knows we are not aware of the pitfalls and the rocky paths that we may blindly wander onto each day. We need only have the faith of the lowly sheep and God will give us peace of mind.
