And — unlike the fairy tales you heard as a child — no little painting elves come out at night and finish the job while you sleep. If you thought your house was shabby-looking before, wait until you paint one room. The rest of the rooms will then look like members of motorcycle gangs have holed up in them for the winter. Nope, once you start, you’re in for the long haul.
So I’ve been painting and painting and painting. Pretty much every day and most nights, I’ve done some painting. The summer ended and fall began. I missed it. Friends have invited us to dinner, parties, events. I’ve been painting. My wife has been to Dubai, and is going again soon, and I’m still painting.
I chose red for the living room, with white trim. First, I painted the ceiling, which is the worst chore of all time. Talk about a neck ache! Then I primed the walls. Then I painted the first coat of red. It looked splotchy. I painted another coat. It looked streaky. By then I was tired of painting. I painted the walls a third time, and,
