When real estate collapsed in the area in the early 1990s, Nicklin closed down New Dominion and started a small publishing company and The Virginia Company in Warrenton.
“The idea behind it was to be able to talk about Virginia’s heritage and the products connected to Virginia,” he stated. “I sold that to my partner’s son, Willis Logan, in 2002.
“I like to start things,” Nicklin said. “It’s a lot of fun. I like to take risks.”
The magazine
“The Piedmont Virginian will be a quarterly magazine in the beginning,” Nicklin explained. “If there is a demand, we will roll it out bimonthly, and then monthly. It should have an air of authenticity about it.
