sf _ ' In its continuing presentation of emerging regional, national and international artists, Robert Ballard is proud to present new paintings by Washington, Virginia' artist Thomas Mullany, from October 21 through November 12.
An opening reception for the artist will take place Saturday, October 21 at the gallery on Main Street in Historic Washington, Virginia from 4-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
In this exhibition, entitled “Forever Endeavor,” the artist returns to his documentation of the local Rappahannock landscape and events, as well as his ironic images of fictitious places and situations. His work continues to amaze a loyal following and is appreciated by many collectors across the United States.
Mullany says about his work: “I paint imagery in a straight- forward kind of realism, whether or not the scene is real. The paintings from my imagination are treated as matter-of-factly as possible, but I like to alter the paintings of real things and places to suit my purposes.” He goes on to say, “Some of the supplest of images in this show I did only because they represent to me some strong feeling or idea that is encapsulated in the scene. My love of history and theology affects much of what I choose to see and paint and also the kind of imagery I coryure up.”
