They go by a number of names: orangeries, cathedral rooms, deck enclosures, greenhouses, spas, glass patios, solariums, conservatories and simply “sun rooms.” These glass-enclosed rooms are not new, but they are increasingly popular for homeowners looking to enjoy the outdoor views year-round without getting wet, getting bit, or even getting dressed.
One reason for the increase, say experts, is the growth of companies that offer ready-made sunrooms from modular kits. Homeowners can choose from do-it-yourself to custom designs.
