The association’s 1997-98 budget of almost $122,000 is based on prior year actual expenses. Insurance policy premiums alone cost over $97,000. Another $4,000 covers maintenance of the emergency communication equipment, the Sheriffs emergency telephone lines, and general office expenses. Capital improvements to the fire training site and contributions to the EMS Office account for most of the remainder.
At the meeting, Rappahannock Sheriff Ga^ Settle reported that the dispatcher’s 12-year old emergency radio system needs to be replaced because it is so obsolete that the manufacturer no longer trains technicians to repair it.
