She studied painting and drawing with Charlotte Turner at Northern Virginia Community College, attended summer workshops at James Madison University with Jerry Coulter, and workshops with Sharon Yates from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
“I prefer a direct encounter with my subject matter which, for me, encourages spontaneity and simplification,” Jordan said of her work.
“I am challenged by conditions of changing light and weather, and of movements and time limits.”
Some of her recent paintings were done in workshops and some at home. She hires models to sit for her and said she has more time to “struggle” with those she creates at home, can go into greater detail and arrange more elaborate settings and backgrounds.
