Auto racing is big business, and it’s extremely political. Unless you’re, say, Bruton Smith, and own half the facilities on which NASCAR competes, it’s not wise to bid against the mqjor players in the sport. Evans jumped in and stepped on too many toes. Now the big shoes are squashing him like a bug.
The bright side is that the USRRC promises to strengthen road racing in this country. But only time will tell. The only certainty is that 1998 will be a year of change.

Congratulations go out to all our local stock car racing track champions. Potomac Speedway champion Jerry Foster, Hagerstown champion Rodney Franklin, Old Dominion Speedway champion Wes Troup and Winchester Speedway champion Ibm Myers all had great seasons and deserve their well-earned championships.
