destruction
I found out recently that the
road I live on, the part of Route 621 called Yancey Road near U.S. 522, is to be widened and paved this winter. All of the trees right along this stretch of road will be cut down. This is but another small step in the systematic destruction of the character of this area.
The Virginia Department of Transportation is paving the way for future development here and all over rural Virginia. The intersection at U.S. 522 and 211 in Sperryville is about to get a turn lane and I’m sure this is but a first step toward the installation of a traffic light there.
My sense is that this all runs counter to the interests of the community. If people here wanted to live in the
