Stagger This is a term used in oval racing. It refers to the difference in circumference between left and right side tires. Stagger is used to adjust a car’s handling. Because of their make up, only bias ply tires can be staggered. Stagger is not a term heard much anymore in major leagure racing.
Sticker A new race tire, never used. Teams will use practice to determine whether to start a race on sticker or scuffedtires.
Stroking When a driver is laying back, being easy on equipment, he is stroking. Often a very effective strategy, because it saves fuel and wear on equipment.
Superspeedway An oval race track a mile or more in length.
Wedge Refers to amount of adjustment of jacking screws found at comer of suspension on race car. Wedge adjustments adjust the car’s distribution of weight.
