a brake malfunction causing his vehicle to run off the road to the right and hit a tree.

Shipman was injured and taken from the scene by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad.

The accident is being investigated according to Virginia State Trooper W.A. Sumner.

Trooper Moore also reported an accident on Oct. 17 which occurred at 8:10 a.m. on Route 616. Amy Troska, of Castleton, was driving her 1991 Chevrolet hatchback and rounded a curve too far to the left.

Laveme Baugher, of Stanardsville, in her 1984 GMC pickup, rounded the same curve in the other direction, also too far to the left of the lane. The two vehicles collided.
