You have joined a large group of people; the estimated number of North Americans who attended auto racing events in 1996 ranges from 25-50 million.
Sit down and strap in. You could be in for quite a ride.
Auto racing is perhaps the most misunderstood team sport there is. It comes in many flavors, and often the fans of one type of racing are not fans of another.
But all forms of racing share the fact that they are team sports. In fact, it is analogous to football. The driver is the quarterback. The driver’s skill behind the wheel of a race car on the track is as important to a race team as a quarterback’s ability to execute is to a football team. And just as a quarterback in football, the driver is the star player.
