Arthur Hitt

Arthur Harrison Hitt, 86, of Culpeper died Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Hitt was bom May 2, 1911, in Rappahannock County to the late William Ludwell and Delsie Butler Hitt. He was the eighth generation descendent of Peter Hitt of Germanna.
Survivors include children, Gene A. Hitt, Judy K. Green, James Mitchell Hitt and Tacy Carol Hitt, all of Culpeper, Jane Matoka Sandoval of Arlington and Linda Ann Lanier of Statesville, N.C.
He is also survived by three sisters Lucille Dillinger, Erma Jenkins and Lena Shiflett and three brothers, Taylor Hitt, Downing Hitt and Turner Hitt.
Additional survivors include six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 25 at Found & Son Chapel with the Rev. Steve Dodson officiating.
Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Dillon, Frank Dillon, Robert Dillon, David Dillon, Preston Hawkins and Preston Hawkins Jr.
