I was bom on a farm on this
road many years ago and lived there the first 17 years of my life.
Believe me Route 621 was a country road then, rough, dusty, curvy, hilly, ruts galore! The ruts were so deep the cars would drag; in the winter chains had to be put on the wheels and even then sometimes the passengers had to get out and push. Sometimes the chains would come off and people would have to walk through mud over ankle deep to find the chains!
At times, those who lived on these country roads would have to fill the ruts with rocks which they picked up on their farms — then they had to drag the road with a homemade drag to get some degree of smoothness or levelness.
These farmers who lived on this country road took great pride in keeping the buildings and fences repaired, painted, and they kept grass and bushes cut (anything else you can think of was spit shined!) All this along with extensive road, maintenance, helping each other in many, many other ways, such as when there was an emergency
