Aerodynamics In racing, the study of airflow around and over an automobile. Downforce is the result of aerodynamics.

Apron Usually applied to ovals, this refers to the flat, bottom portion of the racetrack, out of the racing groove. * ''J :

Banking This is the slope of a racetrack, measured in degrees. Tracks can measure anything from flat (0 degrees) to the half-mile oval track in Bristol, Tenn., which measures 36 degrees.
