James Butler, Rappahannock native was honored in the Spring, 1983 edition of Virginia Extension, a magazine published by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service.
Butler recently retired after twenty-six years as an Albemarle county agent. He presently serves as a county supervisor and member of the State Extension Advisory Committee.
In the interview, Butler recalled his childhood as the oldest of six children of a farm laborer. He left Rappahannock to get a high school education, working his way through a private church school in Christiansburg.
