As an adult, Kramer wanted that comfort, that understanding in his home. “But the really good stuff, the best stuff, was already in private collections and if it wasn’t, it was just too expensive. So I decided to make furniture for myself that captured the spirit of the 1700’s.”
What began as an avocation soon became a vocation for the New' York City beaurocrat who was manager of personnel at Radio Free Europe. “I really enjoyed making furniture more than the other things I did for a living,’’ Kramer recalled.
