ne doctor said i wouki if I didn’t stop drinking. He told me I would irreparably damage my liver if I didn’t stop. But I didn’t accept that. I quit for a few days and then I started right back up again.
“I spent the next twro or three years alternating bouts of heavy drinking with weeks of hospitalization. 1 lost everything but I kept on. Mary threw me out but I kept on. I kept on until I literally hit skid row. I ended up in a three month experimental program, a behavioral program that believed in the addictive personality. It included some A A (Alcoholics Anonymous), not an overemphasis, but I left there knowing I had to be in AA.
