Mrs. Mary Ethel Duncan Smith, *7, of Rapidan, died on Monday. May 2, 19XM. at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.

A native of Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Kastharn Arnold and Alice Jenkins Bennett. She was a member of Cedar Run Baplist Church. Mrs. Smith was first married to the late Edward Pendleton Duncan, and her second husband was the late William Henry Smith.

She is survived by four sons, Kdward E. Duncan and Thomas W. Duncan, both of Reva, Franklin M. Duncan of Boston and Kemper Duncan of Rapidan; three daughters, Mrs. Mary I). Finland Mrs. Louise S. Batten, both of Culpeper and Mrs. Fannie G. Clatterbuck of Rapidan: l(i grandchildren; lf> frroat-jjrandchildren and two j>reat-nreat-jtrandehildren.
