rvappanannocKs boys capped off their best track season ever last Saturday with a third place finish in Bull Run District championships held at Clarke County, qualifying 11 Panthers for regional competition at Fluvanna this weekend.

“They didn’t let me down! They ran their hearts out, said coach Monty Saunders. “We haven’t had a great deal of depth in any event this year. It’s been a great team effort that has brought us victories,” he said, pointing to the 9-1 record posted despite a short roster of just 20 names by season’s end. “In the district, Rappahannock’s ‘heartbreak pack’ was only eight points from first and a single point from second,” the coach noted.

At the end of the afternoon, the tally stood Rappahannock 93, Stonewall Jackson 94 and Clarke 101. (Clarke’s Eagles were the single team to beat Rappahannock during the regular season, edging out the Pan
