All day Wednesday was spent walking around Williamsburg, Virginia’s second Capitol from 1704 to 1780. Our tour guides made sure we saw all there was to see that day. The Magazine, which means “storehouse,” is a place where ammunition was kept during the colonial and Revolutionary times. There were about three hundred guns, flags, swords, and drums stored on the walls. The magazine was constructed in 1715, at the request of Gov. Spotswood and provided an adequate storehouse for the military needs of Virginia.
