Teach children to make themselves big. From helicopters, people are difficult to see when they are standing up in a group of trees or wearing dark, drab clothing. Tell youngsters to hug a tree near a small clearing if possible. Make sure they wear a bright colored jacket when they go near the woods. Tell them to lie down when a helicoper flies over and to make crosses or “SOS” in broken shrubbery, rocks or by dragging a foot in the dirt.
