Other trackmen who qualified for next week’s regional finals at Fluvanna include Clarence Pendleton with a third in the high jump and Ronnie Atkins with a third in the two mile. Rappahannock’s number two distance runner continued his push toward the top spot in Panther standings with a fifth in the mile in 4:51.6, his best for the season.
Lindsay Roberts turned in his best performance for 1983, as well, in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, crossing the line in 44.5 seconds for fifth. In field events, Tim Williams was far from his usual mark but qualified for regionals in the shot put with a throw that traveled 42’6'/4”.
Larry Sisk broke the tape in his heat of the 400 and was sixth overall in the event, winning a trip to the regionals.
The mile relay team of Chris Caperton, Ken Estes, David Dodson and Sisk finished fourth in the six-school district meet.
