Strawberry Festival
Piedmont Episcopal Parish will host its 8th annual Strawberry Festival, Sunday, May 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Delaplane, Virginia, on Route 17 about a mile north of Interstate (>(>.
Fresh strawberry sundaes and short cake will be the feature of the afternoon. A Strawberry Rake-off (Contest offers a first prize of $5 in each of three categories: cakes, pies and miscellaneous. Entries must arrive before 12:20. After the judging, slices will be sold at the refreshment stand.
Craftspeople will demonstrate and sell thenwares at the booths along Delaplane’s streets. On the meadow there will be races and games for children, including softball, bag races and a dunking stool. Husband calling, softball and horse shoe pitching for adults will also take place on the meadow. The nationally renowned Free State Ramblers will play on the Delaplane Store’s Warehouse porch providing music for dancing in the streets.
