They followed the highway to Rappahannock and found exactly what they wanted in Amissville: an old house, in need of repairs, with charm and an affordable price. “We didn’t know Washington, Virginia ever existed. About a year later, we had to come in to pay our taxes and we both just fell in love with the town. It was absolutely magic!” Kramer remembered. "We decided to orient our lives in this direction.”
Buying property as it became available, they finally ended up where they are today. Peter has a woodworking shop in the old packing house on the corner of Gay Street and Mount Salem Avenue, a business he operates in partnership with Stuart Eiland.
Down the block is Rush River, an artisan’s cooperative to which Peter and Joyce both belong. Pieces of Kramer’s furniture will be dwnlaved there on the show weekend along with handblown glass, pottery, quilts, dried and silk flow'ers, paintings and other work from local craftspeople and artists.
