In 19(30, the Extension Homemakers furnished the Woohvine House at Virginia Tech so that graduate students in home economics could be housed on campus.
There were many contributions to the establishment of the Donaldson Brown Center for Continuing Education, which started with the purchase of a $1,000 war bond in 1943. The money at the maturity of the bond was to be used for building a house at Virginia Tech. Through the years the concept of a house changed to one of the continuing education center and by the time ground was broken for the Center in 1965, the clubs had been actively involved in contributing thousands of dollars as well as furnishing rooms.
