“When they got to be teenagers, then it was really fun sewing for them,” she said. Hanging on the door was one example of the care and talent she brings to her daughters’ best dresses—a spectacular blue and white prom gown with stunning detail not found anywhere “off the rack”.
In the past three years, DeKirosso has developed her skills into a paying business—doing dressmaking, upholstery and slipcovers from her home in Flint Hill. She devotes mornings to her business and parts of some evenings. There is no charge, she says, for the overnight "thinking” time that results in the inspiration providing solutions to the impossible requests of Sam O’Connor and other enthusiastic patrons.
