Men and women 18 and older can spend eight to 12 weeks in the park, forest and resource assistant program, whose jobs range from giving interpretive programs for park visitors to conducting field research and assisting rangers in back country patrol.

Positions are offered on a competitive basis and interest in serving in the program is the only prerequisite for eligibility.

In 1982, 975 young persons served in nearly 200 areas across the United States. Participants will meet a cross-section of people from varied socio-economic backgrounds from all geographic areas of the United States. All qualified applicants are consiered without regard to race, creed, color or national origin.
