started running programs on alcoholism, programs aimed at the drunk driver. I put together courses, conferences and seminars on alcoholism. I was aiming at being a counselor. But I never worked the 12 steps to sobriety (that AA espouses). I thought I had accepted that I was powerless over alcohol (step one) and I had tried to carry the message to other alcoholics that there’s help (step 12) but I’d missed the ten steps in between.
