Miller exhibits champion
NewBill Miller of Washington exhibited the senior champion bull at the American Angus Association show in Lincoln, Neb.
Miller exhibited Shamrock HK. Entries from as far away as Montana, Michigan and Kentucky— as well as many Midwestern representatives — competed at the 1985 Nebraska State Fair.
Constitution week observed
The area chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating Constitution Week Sept. 17-23 to commemorate the 198th anniversary of the signing of one of this country’s most important documents.
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of D.A.R. is sponsoring this observance, urging citizens to fly their flags this week.
Constitution week was established by Congress in 1956 and is proclaimed each year by the President of the United States.
Washington Mayor Peter Kramer was one of the local mayors and other municipal dignitaries to sign a proclamation designating the week.
Local school officials are expected to deliver announcements concerning the celebration over the public address system.
Herb jubilee this weekend
Demonstrations, tours, exhibits and door prizes are but a part of the September Herb Jubilee scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Faith Mountain at Sperryville.
The event, which runs from noon until 5 p.m. both days, offers demonstrations in flower drying, herb vinegar making and a look twice daily at how the shop’s catalog is produced. That is scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. both days.
Also, a 19-inch cranberry herb wreath will be given away as a door prize.
