“The girls were jubilant and I am proud of the girls’ effort,” reported coach Ann Spieker.
The coach went on to report that Blevins and Brown “began picking off runners midway through the race to wrap up the victory” by adding the necessary support to the team leaders.
On the boys’ side, Rappahannock runners filled four of the top five slots and five of the top seven to easily defeat the competition, 21 to Luray’s 36 to 73 for Page County.
Even brighter than the win for Rappahannock coach Spieker was the added plus that the top seven finishers were underclassmen.
