‘Clarence Darrow’ presented A one-man show about this “monumental giant of trial law” will be coming to the Gay St. Theatre of Washington on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. The play, orginally performed by Henry Fonda on Broadway, portrays Clarence Barrow’s battles in the courtroom as well as his personal life. It will be performed by Ted Eiland of Florida and is being produced by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the. Community, a non-profit, volunteer organization. Admission is $6 ($5 for RAAC members). Call 675-3193 for information.
‘A Sunday in the Country’ “A Sunday in the Country” has been described by one reviewer as “a perfect film.” RAAC will feature the film on Sf pt. 22, 28 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay St. Theatre. The film stars Louis Ducreaux, Michel Aumont, Genevieve Mnich and Sabine Azema and is French with subtitles. Director Bertrand Tavernier paints a portrait of an artist near the end of his life who is facing the heartbreaking reality of having lived a safe, complacent life, painting safe, complacent and second rate paintings. On a beautiful day in 1912, his family comes to visit, and we see that his life has been that of a family man, an academic painter, who let the anarchy of Impressionism charge past him. The film is rated G. Woman’s Club to meet The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Sept; 24 at 8 p.m. in the home of Beth DeBergh near Washington. All members are urged to attend.
