Kramer said that a citizen who could not stay for the meeting had opposed the ordinance because it was “nit-picking and aimed at one particular business in town.”
Patrons of the Inn occasionally fly in for dinner and land behind the Washington Post Office. The last landing was on Dec. 13.
“I’ve had four calls from people wondering why we’re doing this ordinance when it could have been taken care of with a phone call,” said council member Evelyn Willis.
The ordinance was introduced at the August meeting by council member Dorothy Clater. It was written by councilman Bill Wickens. Clater, Wickens and Newbill Miller were the three members absent from the meeting.
“I had a problem come up that I thought of all at once, and I had to leave to take care of it,” Critzer said Thursday in a telephone interview.
The public hearings on the helicopter ordinance and the proposed cross-control water ordinance were continued to the Oct. 9 meeting.
