Tuesday, Sept. 3, was the day of the final cut back of the Washington Redskins’ team roster, in order to meet the 45-man limit imposed by the National Football League for the coming season.
Five players were involved in the reduction of forces. Three were waived, a procedure I do not quite understand, but which seems to mean that the person involved has been let go and is up for other teams to pick up if they wish, without any compensation to the releasing team.
Earlier, a number of players were placed on “injured reserve,” with some serious disabilities, others with pinched nerves, sore toes, possibly athlete’s foot.
Others may be put on iryured reserve, which, according to the report, would make room for the players who had been waived, and passed waivers.
Of the five players who were cut from the roster on that Tuesday, three went quietly.
