auction has featured furniture, other household goods, books', art objects, tools, garden and farming equipment, TVs and VCRs, gift certificates from local merchants and restaurants, and guns and sports equipment. Donations may be brought to the Washington Fire Hall on Friday evening, May 10, or during the day on May 11. For help, you may call the Lion Auction Chairmen, Roger Andrews (9878974) or Holly Pendleton (987-8627), or Information Officer Mike Mahoney (675-3446). They will happily arrange for pick-up.
The auction will also feature a raffle; prizes are cash awards of $300, $200 and $100. You may purchase raffle tickets from any Lion for a dollar a chance or 25 chances for $20. Local merchants are also selling raffle tickets.
The Rappahannock Lions are a major supporter of worthy causes in the county. For years, they have been providing college and 4-H scholarships and prizes for county students. They have contributed to the purchase of athletic equipment and facilities and help to fund the Sheriff Office’s DARE program. They bring the Sight and Hearing Van to the county and screen our young people and senior citizens for vision and hearing defects.
