On Tuesday, April 23, Tommy Settle, Jon Digges and Carlos Cerecer led the Panthers hitting attack as they defeated Luray 7-5.
The trio produced eight hits and scored five of the seven Panther runs. Willie Eastham pitched his second complete game of the year improving his mark to 2-3. Willie got himself into trouble early and was trailing 4-0 at the end of two innings. The senior, however, showed poise by shutting down Luray’s offense through the next five innings while facing 27 batters.
The Panthers got their first run in the third inning when Carlos led the inning off with a single. Jeff Atkins sacrificed Carlos to second and Tommy Settle singled him home. The Panther bats were quiet through one full inning until the fifth. Carlos lined a base hit to left field to lead the inning off. Jeff* Tommy and Jon Digges all singled behind Carlos collecting four earned runs and taking the lead 5-4.
Luray tied the game in the sixth inning, but the Panthers’ bats responded in the seventh. Jeff walked
