The Relay for life, which is a 24hour event, begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31. After the opening ceremony, there will be a Cancer Survivors Walk for the first lap; then each team will begin the Relay and walk continuously for 24 hours. There will be judging for the Best Tailgate Party, Lighting of luminaries in memory of someone who had cancer at 9 p.m. and games, and special events throughout the night and on Saturday. Prior to the Relay, teams in Rappahannock County will be getting donations to the American Cancer Society. Last year the two Rappahannock teams raised $3,343 for the American Cancer Society and hope to increase that amount in 1996.
